Proven Leadership
Under the Leadership of Marcus Kindley and with the fantastic help of our tireless volunteers, Guilford County accomplished record setting and historical milestones since 2001.
Between the General Election of 2000 and the General Election 2004 there was an increase of over 15.21% in the number of Republicans voting in the General Elections.
In 2002 Guilford County was won for Elizabeth Dole. This was the first time in the history of the state that a Republican running for the U.S. Senate had won in Guilford County. (Senator Dole won by 1002 Votes)
Under Marcus Kindley's leadership Guilford County went from just a few volunteers in the 2000 election to over 350 volunteers in 2004.
In 2004 we turned out 77% of the Republicans in our Rural Precincts and 71.7% overall. We won 90 out of 159 precincts and in 26 of those the Democrats outnumbered the Republicans.
After the November 2004 elections we had raised enough funds to be able to give around 8,000 dollars toward the recount of Steve Troxler’s election as Agricultural Commissioner, along with 8,000 dollars to Dr. Trudy Wade, County Commissioner in Guilford County who was involved in one of the longest contested elections in North Carolina. The best available information shows that the Guilford County GOP provided more than anyone in the State.
In 2006, the Guilford County GOP gave $1000 to each of our candidates for State House candidates with opposition along with other candidates in our County. We had calls placed to over 18,000 Republican households in Guilford County on four different occasions with messages from Congressman Howard Coble, Senator Richard Burr, Agricultural Commissioner Steve Troxler and Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry.
